@megans7504 It was a dummy round for that close up shot of the revolver. There was a small pop at the time that wasn't investigated. Meanwhile, they sent the expert responsible for maintaining the safety of the firearms home early. Ultimately, the blank + the bullet lodged in the gun were just as effective as a real bullet.

That's why things like that are not left unattended. Either they're locked up, or there's a person that's physically watching to ensure that nobody mixes the breakaway props for the real thing. I suppose somebody could do it on purpose, but more likely, somebody could accidentally set something on the table that looks like the prop. There was a time when the breakaway stuff was much more obvious and leaving things sitting out might have been reasonable, but that was decades ago.
