  1. Honestly, it's not dangerous. Quicksand is more dense than a person is, the absolute worst case scenario is that you get stuck and can't get out. More likely, you'd be stuck and it could take ages to get out on your own. As long as there's somebody nearby, you've got nothing to worry about.

  3. You don't. You'd have to have an extremely large patch, walk all the way out into the middle of it and tire yourself out trying to struggle to the edge. In other words, you'd have to work very hard to get stuck. Around here we have holes that are covered up by vegetation and if you step in the wrong place, you can fall in and be very hard to find. It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally people looking for mushrooms will just disappear. And because they rarely tell anybody where they're going, the likelihood of being found is very, very low.
