No, because most of the people voting for this insanity aren't locals and haven't been here more than a few years. It doesn't take that many people to tip local politics past the breaking point and the city has grown massively over the last 20 years.

@Charles-d4e3b I agree, California and all those other places where they came from can have them back. It wasn't that long ago that the city wasn't a joke.

Not really, it's mostly folks coming in from other areas that did this. The local politics wasn't so bad before the massive influx of Californians in the late '80s followed by various other people bringing their dysfunction with them. In a lot of cases, there legitimately isn't even another option to vote for. Previous mayor Durkin probably wouldn't have been elected if the only other option wasn't so horrible due to the 15 way primary election that led to two horrible choices.

The issue is that we didn't make the bed, it was a small portion of the voting demographic that did and most of them weren't even here 20 years ago. You fail to understand just how quickly the population has grown here. There were roughly 2.6m people in the Seattle Metropolitan area in 2000, there are roughly 3.6m people in the area now. That's a massive change in population and when elections are tight, the influx can make a significant different. A large group of carpetbaggers came here and brought their dysfunctional views with them and this is what we got.

@TomELong It can't be fixed because Seattle is effectively a dumping ground for the various incompetents that couldn't make it anywhere else. As the city has grown, so has the average intellectual capacity shrunk. Because, other states are not sending their best and brightest here.

Bullshit. I see folks out in uniform regularly and I've never seen that happen. None of the veterans that I know have mentioned it happening either.

@FreedomAndLiberty2024 I'm not surprised, the rest of the state has been rather jealous while being perfectly happy with the subsidies that we pay out. The city carries most of the rest of the state economically.

How do we do that? Most of this is packaged with a lot of other issues and there isn't necessarily even another option that doesn't involve this sort of BS.
