  1. Rare occasion? Tax cuts are virtually never the correct solution to a recession as businesses hire and retain employees based upon their customers' spending and expectations in the future. The fact that people still don't get that is rather concerning. If you want to stimulate the economy, give checks to poor people, the money tends to work it's way up to the higher earners.

  2. Yes, and the haggling is over how much corporate welfare to provide, rather than the measures that would help ordinary Americans. Which is both to be expected and incredibly disgusting. The checks to the people and welfare extensions should go out immediately. The terms for the bailouts of industry can wait.

  3. Nope, just however many they need to make sure that none of the lobbyists have to do without. The things that would impact the ordinary voters were agreed upon days ago, it's the amount of largesse and terms for the corporate welfare that's kept things stuck.
