  1. A lot of that is driven by profit margin. Larger more complicated bikes are easier to mark up. A $5k bike doesn't have much room for extra profit margin when compared with a $15k one.

  2. $10k is affordable for typical people if they live in an area where it can be the main mode of transportation. Especially since within a year or two, you'll see them being sold used.
