One of the main reasons I ride a Ninja 250r is that I can't afford a car. I was able to buy it for like $2500 including taxes and registration. I'm getting about 50mpg and my insurance is only $100 a year. Sure there's some cost of maintenance and repairs, but I do much of that myself. My motorcycle is nearly as cheap as the bus.

@mb9604 I bought an '09 Ninja 250 for about $2100 + tax and I only paid like $100 for insurance the first year. Granted, I was at least 10 years older than the GP, but I doubt it would have been even triple what I spent on insurance.

@bobm9509 You make that sound like that's a bad thing. These bureaucrats are led by political appointees and they are often there far beyond the term of individual politicians. In some cases those politicians can be there as little as 2 years, which can be the amount of time it takes to properly right and receive feedback on a proposed policy change. Also, thanks for letting us know you're racist. These are regulations, they're not a call to stone non-believers. Just because you don't care about being able to breathe, doesn't mean the rest of us also don't care.

@Captndarty Pretty much, plus the secondary market for motorcycles in many areas is really good. I wouldn't personally buy a new motorcycle as there's just too many options for quality used ones.

@blacklight4460 There's really no substitute for knowing how to ride properly. The ABS and anti-wheelie aside for times when you screw up, most of the rest of that stuff is completely unnecessary. And even the ABS and anti-wheelie are just there for when you screw up. You can stop slightly quicker if you can do so just before the ABS kicks in. The main benefit of ABS is that it allows typical riders to get closer to maximum braking than what they could otherwise do.
