It's worth noting that the activity is already covered by other laws, regulations and ordinences. Touching is prohibited by law, so really touching any more than is necessary to get the cup of coffee already comes under prostitution statutes if I'm not mistaken. Likewise, OSHA covers any workplace safety issues that might come of it. This is just a bunch of kill joys trying to ruin it for other people. Personally, I've never been to one of these drive throughs, but I have no problem with them. There's enough coffee shops out there that these women could choose to work at other ones if they wanted to.

There's more safety issues with that than there is operating an espresso machine. The parts of the body that you're likely to burn wearing a bikini are also likely to get burnt if you're wearing short sleeves. But, mechanics where overalls for a reason. The gunk and oil that gets on the clothes is not something that you'd want getting on your skin with that frequency.

If I'm not mistaken, the first of these businesses were in Everett. And, while I could see potential prostitution or OSHA violations of it, those are both already covered by other laws and regulations. As you mention, these typically have some sort of screen or fence that prevents random passersby to see what's going on in the stand and they aren't supposed to allow more than just a bit of gawking. This is several steps less risque than a strip club. It's about what you might expect if you're getting served coffee at the beach.

@robertknight4672 It does, but I don't believe that you're required to wear long sleeves when making coffee. I work in a bakery, and I wear short sleeves and I have to be mindful not to burn myself. Making espresso is significantly less of a burn risk than working around ovens and baking racks is. I was recommended to wear long sleeves, but I'm an adult, so I just conduct my business carefully.
