These days with computers, it's unusual for it to take long to figure out where money went if it's been transferred to the wrong place.

  2. That wasn't the student's money, that was the banks money. If the bank didn't properly send the money where it was supposed to go and couldn't figure out where it went, that's really the bank's problem. I definitely wouldn't have spent the money or transferred it until the time limit ran out, but usually the banks will figure out where the money went when they make these mistakes and fix the problem at some point. Keep in mind that when people make mistakes, the banks don't go out of their way to fix it. Neither should customers when ti benefits them. In most cases, you leave the money where it is and the bankers will figure it out on their own,.
