  1. Teaching at different schools is so common that the college my mother taught at even called them "Roads Scholars" as in they were driving up and down the corridor getting to classes in different college districts.

  2. I'm under another situation where a noncompete makes sense. I can't currently work for a competing retail establishment, but the moment I quit the restriction ends. Which, I think is pretty reasonable as a way of preventing conflicts of interest and trade secrets from migrating. (Although with the number of employees that flow between competing chains, I'm not sure how much there really is other than pricing and expenses to share) The bit about these going beyond the term of contract or a short period afterwards other than when you're selling a business that you were running seems wrong to me.
