@shawbros BS, either that or you've completely destroyed your sense of smell by smoking stuff. I can personally smell pot from a distance that I would never be able to smell cigarette smoke, it's just that obnoxious.

Those odors don't escape the unit. Personally, I don't really care one way or the other. The condo I live in has a no smoking in doors policy. If somebody put a motion to allow people to smoke in their unit, I wouldn't personally object to it. But, packs of cigarettes around here were well over $7 a pack before taxes last time I checked and it's getting harder for kids to get access to them and with most of the long term smokers starting as kids, it means that the whole bit about people smoking at all is probably going to start to decline pretty substantially from where it is.

So, what of people that can't afford to buy a house, and don't want to rent? We should just not own anything at all? Or are we idiots for buying condos?

@lilsheba1 Which is fine if you actually keep the fumes on your side of the line. There's legal concepts related to things like "light trespass" where things cross the line onto somebody else's property and cause problems.

@JesusIsKing91276 Yes, although most HOAs have rules about noise and there's almost certainly some state or local laws that apply as well. I'm not personally a fan of alcohol, but it's ignorant to equate smoking with alcohol when one rarely ever impacts people outside of that one particular unit and the other may very well depending on how well sealed the units are.

@shawbros Yep and cigarettes smell way better than pot smoke does. Really, when we're talking about fumes, it's really tricky trying to keep them contained when two people are living close together.

@shawbros Nope, I'm sorry, but that's just factually incorrect. Cigarette smoke does not carry dozens of feet the way that pot smoke does. Perhaps there's something wrong with your nose.
