Once it's in the truck, it's definitely not the homeowners' property any longer. The question of where exactly the transfer of ownership occurs is what this entire situation is about. Because it's clearly not the case that the solid waste agency owns the trash in your home. But, if you don't put it in their bins on the curb, then I don't know how they can claim that they have ownership rights over it. Around here the city council gave the garbage truck drivers the right and responsibility to go through people's trash and determine if there's too much compostable or recyclable material in it. Nothing has been done to help residents understand what is and isn't recyclable as it's a massive mess where there's nothing on the containers that really says, we just get a pamphlet with examples.

@brentwalker8596 That's a weird situation, but I don't see why the resident shouldn't get to take their stuff back if they're OK with the fact that it's been in the garbage.

It's not, the 2nd amendment is for purposes that are obsolete. We have a standing army, and we have full time policing by armed officers in basically the entire country. Those were literally the only reasons for the 2nd amendment other than overthrowing the government. And you're not going to overthrow the US government with the weapons that are covered under the 2nd amendment.
