  1. Privacy issues don't exist if the customers agree to it. It's a roof, as long as the work wasn't exclusively on the back side or some side that isn't visible from the sidewalk, it's not much of a privacy issue. Perhaps if a given install is done on a back country road with a long driveway there may be some potential privacy issue, but most houses are in places where you can see some of the work from the road.

  2. That's generally the case. People in the modern era are used to having a lot of pushy sales people. Asking somebody they trust to put some of their reputation on the line for a company makes a difference when you realize that the first couple buying decisions are based on the prospective customers opinion on the company and the sales person.

  3. They do get charged when it's reported. It is definitely a felony to defraud people out of sums this large.
