Yep, the situation where non law enforcement is allowed to prevent people from leaving is typically pretty limited and in most cases will require that you've called the cops and will stop when they get there. Even then, there are typically substantial restrictions on when you're even allowed to do that much. Unfortunately, it's often not clear if you were legally justified in doing so until after the fact, at which point it's too late to make a different decision. Best advice is to just not do it if you've got any viable alternative.

  3.  @cynthiarothrock4255  Probably, depends on the roof, but if taking the ladder was intended to have that effect, then it's likely that it wasn't safe to climb down without a ladder.
