  2. That wouldn't happen, they'd likely only be on the hook for the cost of putting the house back the way that it was. So, at most. you'd be benefiting by the amount of demolition.

  3. You don't think that they've thought of that? Most of the lumber is covered by something and that something is usually something like plaster or sheet rock and that takes a bit of time to burn through.

  4. That's assuming that it was saved to begin with. If it's giving an error so quickly, it probably wasn't even recorded correctly to begin with.

  5.  @frankyflowers  Yes, there's usually at least a few walls that are still standing, I remember when I was a kid that they burned a house near the school and from what I could see everything on the outside seemed to still be standing, but you could see the holes in the roof and IIRC, much of it wasn't even there afterwards.
