@davidlazerz8564 An increasing number of them don't even live in the area. It's a massive problem that private equity is allowed to buy up so much housing stock that just adds tot he issues associated with having insufficient housing and depressed wages.

@andrewrobinson1634 The landlord shouldn't ever be handing out master keys, those are pretty serious. When I worked security, I had master keys and those were to be kept secured at all times due to the literal hundreds of thousands of dollars it would take to change all of the locks it could unlock. So, nobody would ever get one of those keys that wasn't security or the owner. And that doesn't even include the liability if things were suspected, or actually, missing after the keys went unsecured which could easily get into millions of dollars with businesses like attorneys being in the room where their stuff getting stolen or broken into can be expensive. So, the landlord definitely screwed up, the degree to which the cleaning company is also on the hook isn't as clear. If the place looks like people are moving in or living in, then they really should have sought some confirmation. Assuming that the cleaners can even speak English well enough to. It wouldn't surprise me if they hired people that can't due to being cheaper.

@j.k.4203 The landlord hires the property management company, they're ultimately the one in charge of that sort of thing.

We'll see where the mistake was made, but as others have pointed out, given that both the clean up company and the locksmith both showed up to the same house to work, it appears that the landlord or property management company gave out a wrong address to somebody.
