I think people need to realize that often times animals are more capable of taking care of themselves than we give them credit for. There are definitely situations where animals do need help, but a cat in a tree can often times just jump and safely do so from a height far higher than people would expect. Dogs are capable of swimming, and they're also capable of surviving in conditions that humans would have issues.

@Jack_Russell_Brown Honestly, that's why I bought one of those battery jump start boxes. A good one has circuitry to make sure that it's plugged in correctly and not going to damage the vehicle.

@jupitercyclops6521 Honestly, your GMC would probably be fine, but anything modern enough to have electronics involved shouldn't be jumped. Best to either call AAA or use one of those battery jump boxes that have circuitry in them to make sure that you don't destroy anything. I've got one and the moment you plug it in, the car will have the battery necessary to start.

Obviously, it's purely because we don't really want to go down the rabbit hole of deciding which animals should deserve a new status that's above property and below people. We sort of had that in the past with slavery, and that didn't exactly end well.
