@admthrawnuru Generally speaking, yes, so long as it's not the evidence. I'm curious why nobody is being charged with evidence tampering if that money isn't still in the evidence locker where it belongs.

@CptCrackers The problem with that is that the local police are usually the ones that are actually involved in the seizures. It's unlikely that there are enough bailiffs to actually do that.

You do realize that it's possible to respect cops that do their job appropriately within the law and not respect those that don't, right? That being said, the balance between those groups definitely has been shifting towards a lack of earned respect in recent years.

I don't think that jail time as the punishment for contempt of court is common enough for those with money. I'm sure it's used often enough on people that haven't got any money. But, how much punishment is a fine for those that have huge sums of money?
