The timeline is probably fine. What there needs to be is better information for people being served as to how to file for a continuance while they seek out an attorney. A one-page form letter to the court to notify them that you're intending to address the papers should be more than sufficient for that purpose.

I got unhired one time. Apparently, the general manager of the particular jobsite wasn't authorized to make hiring decisions. I don't even know how that can be a thing. I didn't find out about this until after I already showed up and filled out my W-4. I was rather surprised to be asked to interview for a job that I'd already offered and accepted. I did get paid for a few hours and was absolutely grateful to not be stuck working someplace with that kind of incompetent management.

Possibly. Especially if any of this was in a written form. It can be a lot harder to walk back written statements than ones that aren't recorded.

But keep in mind that if you quit for any reason, the public officials involved in approving claims will make it a massive problem where the applicant has to prove that they quit as a result to something specific on that day and will not consider anything that happened previously. That's what happened to me. I showed up for my hearing and the official was very clearly representing the company and wouldn't consider any of the abusive behavior that led up to me quitting. It was considered voluntary because the last straw wasn't sufficient to warrant me quitting. And none of the stuff leading up to that final straw were considered. Plus, they let the HR troll lie her ass off without seeing any of the evidence, but i had to have evidence to support my claim. I think most states are like that, assuming they aren't worse.

I work in food service and there are a lot of things which would make me too sick for work, but not too sick to go outside and do things. Diarrhea is one of them, if I've got watery bowel movements in the last bit, I can't go into work. So, even if I do take some medicine and it clears up, I still can't go to work right away. The same goes for vomiting. So, I can be chilling at home and generally fine to goof off, but be potentially infectious and could give somebody food poisoning if I went into work. Really, what this says is that we need stronger protections for days off. A mental health day is a legitimate part of one's health and a legitimate reason to call in sick. I'm autistic, and I do a really good job of coming in if at all possible, but there are definitely days when I'd rather not show up because I can't do things that shouldn't be a part of my job, but corporate expects us to smile and give customers "good" eye contact, whatever that even means. It hasn't been a problem yet, but technically it could be a hassle to deal with at some point in the future.

@crazycoffee Don't post under your own name, and don't post your photo. If they still figure it out, they're probably engaged in stalking and you can probably get a restraining order as well as some sort of lawsuit.

@thevalorousdong7675 That worked better before mass shootings became a normal thing. Now, that's likely to get you fired and possibly put on psychiatric hold depending on how credible the police think that is.

@hayuseen6683 Perhaps, but it's also not protected speech if they decide to fire you. That being said, it's best not to work for an employer that would get bent out of shape over something that minor.

That's not safe enough, I try not to have any of those people. It has made life a lot less stressful.

TBH, some people have a more set routine for elimination than others do. Just from a business standpoint, as long as it's not taking hours out of the day, I think it's better for employees to be able to use the restroom when they need to, rather than losing all that productivity trying to hold it in and potentially making a mess if they can't. Mistakes can easily wipe out any savings that not letting them use the restroom might have saved. Not to mention that the kind of employees that would tolerate that are probably not the best employees out there.
