@nightlightabcd If the police need a list of phones that were in the vicinity to track down the culprit, who's to say that the culprit is even going to be the owner of any of those phones? It could well be the case in the future, if this ruling doesn't stand, that robbers start to pretend like they've got a phone so that police will waste their time violating the constitutional rights of everybody with a device in that particular area at that time while they skip off to some country that has nice beaches and no extradition treaties.

@FHL-Devils Historically privacy has always been pretty limited when you step out of secured residences. There was a period where privacy rights expanded a lot, but without a lot of moving, there was typically a relatively small group of people that you'd run into a lot that would know a lot about you.

@nightlightabcd Perhaps, but the whole point of warrants is that people that aren't criminals do deserve some degree of privacy and until there's a conviction we don't have any way of knowing for sure whether one person is or isn't a criminal.
