  1. It's certainly a rare situation, but what happens if you need to get out of their quickly or if the sensors are broken? People already die when they can't get out of their houses as a forest fire is bearing down. If the car is out of commission due to the seat belt sensor being busted, that could be fatal. As opposed to not wearing a seat belt which people generally know to do and are usually the ones harmed by their own poor decisions.
