Most of these abuses of power would have ended decades ago if the judges would simply go by a reasonable interpretation of the constitution rather than getting hard thinking about the legal theories. Not only is there no justification in the constitution for allowing it, the constitution is quite clear that the government can't just take your stuff without due process.

It's particularly hard for immigrants that come from places where physically moving large amounts of cash to pay bills is the norm. In China it's not unusual for people to strap thousands onto their own body in order to pay for a car in cash. In the US you've got Chinese business people trying to buy restaurants in cash and having it seized by the police because only drug dealers would have that kind of money. In those cases the only evidence is a larger than normal amount of cash and no evidence of any kind that they did, let alone sold, drugs.
