You lost me when you decided to mis-characterize the academic rigor of the school That 98% admission rate is because it's a really, really hard school to succeed at. They expect you to actually do the work and to be able to discuss the material in front of the other students. Sure, some students float through without any rigor, but the school produces a ton of doctors, lawyers and teachers. Subjects which can't reasonably be considered easy. People can and do regularly flame out because they can't deal with the freedom.
