Yes, if the people who are withholding their vote would get behind a 3rd party candidate, any of them, then there'd likely be enough votes to make them the President. The two major parties are OK losing as long as it's to the other corrupt party, but if they were looking at losing to the Green Party or one of the other 3rd parties, they would shit their pants and start begging for votes with any promise they can think of to get people to vote for them.

What I take away from this, is that they're not going to start caring until there's a party to the left of them that's got significant support. And it might take enough voters to make up 34% of the final votes in order to do it. Personally, if I don't get hazard pay for working through this pandemic, I'm through with them. No more votes for either party if there's a 3rd party option. And if there is no 3rd party option, then I'll vote against the incumbent every time. It is absolutely ridiculous that people on unemployment get money that they weren't owed, but the people working to ensure that we don't have mass starvation and have access to health care get nothing at all in terms of support from the government.

@MAC_ABC It wasn't, in at least one case it was because the VP moved during the process and the lack of same address through the process is what the Democrats used to get them removed from the ballot. I'm curious as to how they should have known ahead of time about the move and what the new address would be. This is a party that's been running for President for decades, you don't think they know how to file the paperwork?

Decades ago it was a much more reasonable argument to make when there was at least one party that was nominally to the left of center. At this point, the argument means that half the country doesn't matter at all to begin with, then there's the numerous states where your vote doesn't matter. The end result is that only a small fraction of the population gets a meaningful say in the results.

@murray1067 I get it, in that case, consider voting against the incumbent. Is there no challenger in your district? I'm planning to vote against the incumbent with respect to the other races. For President, it will likely be green party, but for representative, it will be against the incumbent.

I'm glad people noticed that. Biden is promising basically nothing to combat climate change. A green new deal and ending fracking should be mandatory for anybody claiming to be a Democrat.
