And that's really a problem, there should be signfiicant restrictions in place on what Senators and Congressmen do after they leave office to prevent this kind of corruption. The US is one of the few places in the developed world that tolerates this sort of blatant corruption taking place in plain sight.

@nikovidovic3410 We'll see. The governor is currently a Democrat and it looks like he may be running against a progressive that's going to actually promise to do things for the people of Kentucky. McConnell himself isn't particularly popular in Kentucky, he's one of the least popular Senators in their respective state. He does have a bunch of political savvy, but I wouldn't assume that he's going to be re-elected if he has to go up against somebody that's going to push for universal healthcare and universal basic income. The state of Kentucky is a poor state and will only get poorer as coal continues to be less and less viable as an energy source. The miners know that and the Democrats have largely failed to promise to help them find some other way of supporting themselves.

@ohoyohummered We'll see, politicians that are in office for decades lose campaigns all the time. He's done basically nothing for the state of Kentucky and is not particularly well liked there. A progressive candidate promising policies like universal health care could potentially defeat him. Especially at a time where he's refusing to allow the Senate to even discuss measures to help people cope with the current pandemic.
