I personally work at a grocery store and it's hard to remember that we're in a pandemic because after a while you just get used to it. The government hasn't done a damned thing to help us or compensate us for our service and sacrifice. If we lose our jobs or get our hours cut back, which happens as essential as we are, we don't get to benefit from any of the pandemic assistance as that's only if the cuts were in response to the pandemic itself. People may not believe that our jobs require hazard pay, but we should at least get compensated for being left out of the benefits that everybody else gets. Call it what you want, but we're doing more work, in a riskier environment and not getting any compensation for it. In fact, it's only been in the last month or so that I've finally had more income than I would have had being on unemployment thanks to that $10k that they gave the unemployed that essential workers didn't get.

@spsawyer22 that's a good point, at least the chain I work for gives me enough hours to qualify for health benefits. Wal-Mart generally doesn't.

That's not a reason for bars to be open, that's a reason for liquor stores and other places that sell it to be open. And, you're not joking about the withdrawal symptoms. For all the whining you hear from smokers, the reality is that if you lock them in a room with just food and the basic necessities they will quit eventually. If you do that with an alcoholic, they could very well die. I remember when I quit, I've never been so sick in my entire life and I wasn't even a hardcore drinker either. I was just planning on taking a couple weeks off from the drinking as I wasn't exhibiting any self-control. Then, I got the headaches, trouble seeing straight and the rest. It was one of the most miserable few weeks of my life. And that's before the real cravings kicked in later.
