Yes, the city council just passed an ordinance that requires $4 an hour pay raise, but it's been a year and for those of us working those jobs we've already taken substantial damage to our bodies and additional risk that we'll never be compensated for. We didn't even get the extra money that the feds were giving out to basically everybody else. We got a paltry $1800 for the last year and if we were lucky, a little bit of hazard pay for a couple months at the start. That's it.

A moratorium would have been good, but they really needed to hand people money to pay their rent and utilities because we're going to see a wave of evictions as those landlords lose their mortgages and the banks repossess.

There's plenty of Americans that are also outraged, but America hasn't been a functioning democracy in decades. If any other country were handling democracy like this, we'd invade and bring ourselves democracy.

@scottg247 That makes you a horrible person. A significant chunk of our inmates wouldn't be in prison in other countries. They're in prison because the prison industrial complex needs to have prisoners in order to turn a profit. So, you get people going to prison for long periods of time, in most cases without a trial, over piddly little drug charges.
