Even if those allegations are true, they are neither illegal nor immoral. College lecturers are generally allowed to date students, it's just frowned upon if they're in their own class or they have the ability to impact the student's grades. These are generally adults and I haven't heard anything to suggest that these were anything other than consensual pairings.

That's the thing, this isn't even improper. College employees are generally allowed to date and have sex with students. None of the allegations here constitute a violation of collegiate norms or morals. Which is likely a large part of why there wasn't any sort of discipline involved.

Keep in mind that it took ages for the Democrats as a party to get on board with same sex rights and a lot of the same politicians out there now, were putting it off and putting it off. I remember when Gravelle back ages ago stood up during one of the debates and unequivocally stated that they were wrong to oppose gay rights and should be allowed all the rights and privileges afforded straight couples. Also keep in mind that even if the allegations are true, none of that is illegal or immoral and it's unlikely that it violates the college's policies. I've worked at a college and we're allowed to date students, in fact I know of at least one married couple that met that way. The only real issue comes when one of the individual holds the ability to control the grades of the other, that would be questionable at best. In cases like that, it's expected to wait until after the grades are in before even approaching a student.

It's easier to say that you're resisting than to actually resist. If Trump were as bad as they say, then they'd be going to reeducation camps just for saying that they're resisting him. The reality is that as horrible as Trump has been, both parties have been complicit in what he's done. The Democrats could have fought him, but for the most part of only fought the most egregious abuses of power and only to make it appear like they were paying attention and fighting.

That's like every generation, after a few years of real world experience, things tend to shift a bit. That's not to say that people automatically sell out, just that there's more understanding of how the values should be applied. I still feel every bit as strongly about most of the issues I cared about when in college, I just recognize the context within which they are happening and realize that they aren't all of equal priority. In some cases, they aren't even worth worrying about whereas others are even more important. W allowing the murder of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis is a pretty damn big deal and so is the FBI being allowed to root around in people's private communications. Abortion, is honestly, not as big of a deal as the private financing of elections. The only reason that anybody cares about abortion is that the medical community used it as a way of trying to drive midwives out of the practice of providing pregnancy related medical care. It's not an issue that anybody cared about prior to that.

@mwfmtnman Or, more likely, that life experience will confirm how bad the Boomers are. I'm in my late 30s now and every year I become more and more convinced that if there had been a way of wiping out the entire generation without ending our species that would have been the way to go. Other generations have caused tons of problems, but none of them on the scale of the Boomers or with such reckless abandon. Not to mention the way that they collectively pulled up the ladder to success to make it harder for anybody else to share in the benefits of the wealth they enjoyed.

That's the thing, it's not even immoral. I've worked at a college and college employees are allowed to date students, just as long as they're 18 and up. It's frowned upon to date somebody where you control their grade or to allow it to influence your professional work, but it's not against any rules. The reality here is that the groups making the accusations are behaving in a homophobic way. The only thing here that anybody might consider to be immoral would be the gayness of it. But, this is the 21st century, perhaps we should give them a bridge so they can get over it. In fact, I drive by one that's just sitting on the side of the road completely unused, perhaps I could send it to them.

@CP-ir3ft He didn't date his students, that doesn't mean that he can't date other students at the same college.

@voodoopriest100 I don't think sexual assault allegations from a credible source are less than allegations that even if true wouldn't be illegal, immoral or in violation of college policy.
