@johnbemery7922 Yes, stimulus directly to everybody in the form of a UBI that can be taxed back from those that made too much money would be the simplest and most effective way of dealing with the problem. Unfortunately, at this point, too much damage has been done and more needs to be done. Additionally, nothing at all has been done for the frontline workers, we've been expected to do all the extra work and take the extra risk and we've been shafted. Neither party is fighting for us and I for one will not be voting to support either party in the future. I will only vote for them if a 3rd party candidate isn't available and against the incumbent for the rest of my life if I don't get hazard pay. Why should I have to make it on less than what unemployment was paying when I have to actually work and take on the additional risk?

@slimerone The death rate we've got is because we were able to slow the infection rate enough to mostly avoid having the hospitals overwhelmed. NYC got overwhelmed, but much of the country hasn't. Additionally, we have no idea what the actual death rate was as there's tons of people like me that likely had it but couldn't get tested. I had symptoms consistent with covid, but there were not tests available at that time. This winter it's likely to be even worse as the infection rate barely dipped during the summer and is set to increase substantially lthis winter as we still aren't doing the contact tracing, testing and quarantining necessary to avoid it. Not to mention that the frontline workers have largely been left to our own devices. We're not getting any support from the government, we're not allowed to quit or get unemployment except for under extremely narrow exceptions and we may have to engage in a general strike to get any help at all.
