Saagar is absolutely wrong here. If inciting a seditious mob to storm the capital to try and change the results of an election isn't an impeachable offense, then what is? That would result in a situation where you'd need to literally engage in treason, as in doing the same thing with the help of a foreign power. I'm sorry, but in what world is the ignorance of the Republican voters justification for not using it. The Senate trial is where the evidence is supposed to be provided to the public to justify why he's guilty and why being guilty demands that he be removed from office. The main reason that Clinton wasn't removed from office is that what he did isn't that big of a deal and it wasn't logically connected to why the independent investigator was appointed in the first place. Every day across the country, defendants lie under oath and Clinton was ultimately disbarred in part due to that. Every day, there are not people engaged in seditious insurrection. The lack of popular support may well mean that the Senate doesn't vote to remove him from office, but that should not get him off the hook from the House impeaching him for a second time.
