@sod1237 What else could the judge have done? This continues the case and could potentially lead to him being prosecuted anyways. The fact that the judge didn't just immediately accept the charges being dropped is a loss for Trump and Adams.

@bigsweetc6 If it's money that was already going to be spent, you'd just get the regular inflation. The stimulus checks were extra spending that wasn't already going to be spent and in much larger amount. That being said, the whole thing is BS as he's not finding any of the money that he's claiming to have found.

@deborahboggs6040 Yes, there is no guarantee that the decision to drop the charges won't be accepted with the input of this new attorney. That being said, the longer this stuff can be kept in the news the better. It's only been a month and it's already hard to keep track of all the legal proceedings that are going on.

Yes, I wouldn't personally jump to conclusions about what the eventual order is going to be. But, the fact that the motion to dismiss wasn't immediately accepted is probably a good sign. It may well still be accepted, but if so, there will at least be some legal basis for doing so other than that the parties colluded together to drop it as part of a bribery scheme.

@billlee8321 Yes, I think that's why these deals normally involve it being dismissed without the ability to try again. Typically, these deals are already stacked in favor of the prosecution on the basis of them being able to load up as many charges as they like to pressure people into pleading guilty.

That would be a separate call to the appropriate bar independent of this proceeding.

That's certainly possible. Knowing how SCOTUS has been ruling, there's a pretty good chance that regardless of what the judge does, that he's going to walk. But, if it remains in the press long enough, it might scuttle his chances at being reelected.

It's far more likely that he'll die than be removed. He's starting to do things that negatively impact on Red states, but so far it's not having much of an impact on the actual politicians that could remove him from office.

@ZacharyNoah JD Vance was selected in part because he wouldn't be able to keep the MAGA coalition together and threaten Trump's power. Just his wife being Indian alone, would probably be enough to lose large chunks of the coalition.
