Gender is different from sex. But the comment still applies given how many folks insist that they were assigned a gender at birth. Doctors do no such thing. It's sex so they know what to expect and what sort of treatment to expect to provide. Gender is a completely separate thing. Personally, I can't say that I really care one way or another, but the trans and non-binary folks have become something of a cult where it's not enough to just let them do as they please, you also have to cosign on all the nuttier bits like gender affirming care for children.
