Technically, it's not really the death that's taxable, it's more like the transfer of wealth and assets. Death is just the trigger for it, sort of like how getting married or changing jobs allows for certain other changes to be made in things like health insurance elections.

The big issue with dentists is that they have a vested interest in filling cavities and the like.
