I love mine, but I haven't needed a second one. This sort of thing is why trying to be a single product company doesn't work. Most of the time, they get sold off to larger companies that have other product lines in addition to the specific one being purchased.

It's pretty ridiculous unless you live somewhere that your favorite team isn't the local time. There's commonly an exclusivity agreement, so that you have to watch in on a specific channel if you live in their region. But, it may well be a channel that is exclusive to one specific cable or satellite provider and not available elsewhere. Unless, you live outside that areas, in which case there are options. Personally, the exclusivity is a large part of what killed the little interest that I had in professional sports as it became a chore trying to keep track of which games I could watch and on which channel.

@kerenk Yep, I never got rid of the stuff I had, I did go through a period where I bought hardly any. I've got mine ripped to disk so that I can stream locally. I get the best quality picture short of physically inserting the disk and a very well-polished experience. At this point, I pay $0 most months as I've got all the stuff I really want, I just buy stuff that I want if I see any.

Yep, although, I personally, just buy DVDs and then rip them to my NAS for viewing via a JellyFin stream to my Roku. It's a bit of effort, especially if I want to have extras, but once it's done, it's done and it becomes just about the most convenient way of watching things at a high quality and supporting the stuff worth supporting sot hat it remains available into the future.

@eatatjoe It hasn't killed DVD availability for the most part. Stuff that's too obscure for streaming is probably still easily obtained via DVD or bluray. Personally, I hit a point a while back where I mostly don't particularly have a need for more media and most months I don't buy any at all. I think I've got enough that if I wanted to watch through my entire collection of DVDs and blurays that it would take at least a year.

@Durgemann Probably not, probably just a bonus when they're trying to get services slashed to free up money for tax cuts.

@calvin7330 That depends on the sport, often times only some of them are free, and some of them require a cable or satellite only channel that is only available through one provider and that is the only option for watching it.

I'd load up on late '80s to late '90s cyberpunk programming so you'll be ready for what's coming. Only those capable of hacking mainframes using UIs that were clearly designed by people on acid will survive.
