The PI is a bit of an idiot. Nobody should be talking to the police in a situation like this without an attorney. Even more so if he's innocent of any wrongdoing. Being innocent isn't a defense against being wrongfully convicted, after all. That being said, the whole thing does look fishy and it wouldn't surprise me if he does know what happened to her and tried to cover it up.

@stvo2009 Absolutely, we don't know what, if anything, he knows. It's certainly possible that he murdered her, but it's also possible that he didn't and is afraid of being railroaded in this manner. It also might be that he doesn't know anything that would be helpful and is afraid of being charged for lying if the FBI disagrees about his lack of knowledge. Or possibly something else entirely.

@mritaci15 Possibly, but probably not, there would be footprints leading to the spring and the area around the springs isn't necessarily stable enough to allow for somebody to carry a body to the spring. It's also illegal to leave the path in those areas because people can and do die in the hot springs.

@charlottehanna790 Honestly, my money is on him leaving her stranded without her phone. Or, she just wandered off without the phone and he was too much of a coward to get help. There's certainly other possibilities, we'll have to wait and see what turns up, but the assumption that he knows much more than that isn't necessarily reality based. It could be as simple as her doing something stupid and him running when he had the chance.
