Why not? Sure the ones that were pointed out in this particular video are kind of silly, but they aren't always so silly and drawing a line between that and a regular roof can be tricky.

So, you could get buildings with a Spaceneedle like floor stuck to the top? There's a building sort of like that in Vancouver, B.C.

From what I can tell, there's no requirement that a causeway be over open water, water, or even wetness at all. So, the issue isn't Guinness or the Chinese, that's just working as intended.

@archangelcharlie Whatchu talkin' 'bout?

@archangelcharlie That's a bit of an apples and oranges thing there. Yes, technically, it is the Willis Tower, the issue is that there isn't enough marketing to get people outside of the Chicago area to pay attention. Those in the Chicago area may just refuse to accept the change. Renaming sports venues works a bit better because there's a ton of money involved in marking things related to the venue, so people will tend to accept it over time more regularly.

I thought the worst thing to happen to Chicago was not being NYC, but somehow being really invested in it.

@phen314 Renaming buildings is pretty stupid unless the building can get in the paper on a daily basis under the new name. It will likely always be the Sears' Tower to me for the simple reason that I don't think about it all that often. It's the same reason why Seattle's Columbia Center has had something like 4 or 5 names over the decades and you can sort of guess roughly when people moved to the area based on which name they call it.

@DPF61008OConnor How's not being NYC going for you?

It's not really that dumb. Last I heard Seattle's Columbia Center got approved for a significant antenna to be installed which would take the height up over a thousand feet if that were what we were going by. And, buildings could just keep upping their heights by building taller antennae up to whatever point the FAA says no more.

@BSuydam99 IKR, here in Seattle, the Columbia Center is built in a similar style and looks just as good. That was a fairly standard style for decades.
