Or we could just do like pretty much every other civilized country and actually take care of the root cause. Regulate ownership and transfer of weapons and ensure that everybody has adequate medical treatment.

No, what we need is for the government to actually do something about this problem. Japan has fewer than 20 gun related deaths in total in an average year. Sometimes it's in single digits. It's not that this can't be solved via regulations, it's that enough politicians have decided not to try that's the issue. I'm not suggesting that we need to go that far, but it's clear that regulations, when properly written and implemented, do work. And clearly thoughts and prayers don't. Adding more guns is just going to make things worse as now you'll have a bunch of guns that can potentially get lost, stolen or accidentally discharged.

@-TheChurchOfTruth- No, it's a small amount of psychopaths that are in congress and refuse to take any sort of action at all. When over 90% of the public supports some of the regulations that would reduce the likelihood of this happening, it's not society. Whether the measures that enjoy that level of support would be enough is up for legitimate debate, the fact that we haven't even got that is a sign of just how corrupt and uncaring the people in charge are.
