I don't agree, this is the same Puerto Rico that Trump tried to completely screw out of any aid following that hurricane and then went on to try to trade for Greenland. Whether that comedian meant to refer to the landfill issue or not, it was incredibly poorly thought out in the context of what was going on. And, I really do not believe that the comedian was that interested in Puerto Rican politics to know about their landfill situation.

I hope you greatly appreciated the improvement in your life not having that sort of judgmental influence in your life.

@multiverser9585 And that's wrong. I personally think that Trump was an absolute mistake last time and probably will be this time as well. But, if we stoop to the level that some folks are in terms of cutting out friends and family over this issue alone, then I don't know how this ever gets any better. The way to bring people over to your side is with some degree of compassion and understanding. And, it may be that they're not the ones that are wrong, it's sometimes ourselves that needs to reconsider our positions. For me personally, what I've learned from all of this is that those of us that are a bit more moderate, or at least go between the candidates, need to speak up and push back about this nonsense about how this election says things about voters because it doesn't. This election says things about the parties and how they go about selecting candidates and positions far more than voters. The voters just chose the candidate that more closely aligned with what they wanted, or at least was able to message effectively to that effect.

They deserved what they got. The statute is quite clear that what they did was a violation of the law and not covered under 1st amendment protections. The court has, once again, chosen to be ignorant of what the law and constitution say when it's convenient.

That's a bit different. You're not going to be Trump stink on you by interacting with Trump supporters any more than you're going to get Harris stink by interacting with Harris supporters. But, you could contract a dangerous virus by hanging out with people that aren't vaxxed. And, even if you are vaxxed, it can take nearly everybody being vaxxed to really see much improvement in terms of rates of infection.

Yes, but then they wouldn't be the Democratic party. They didn't learn from losing in 2016 or barely squeaking by in 2020 and they have my full confidence in their ability to learn nothing this time as well.

I don't agree with cutting ties with people over this. People have a right to vote for whichever candidate they choose and if you shun the ones that vote in a different way from you, then how do you ever expect things to improve? That's especially the case when the folks being shunned were on the winning side of the election. Are we just supposed to wait for Trump and the GOP to screw things up so those folks leave the party and then hope that they don't just stop voting? Really, the only way to get those folks voting for a particular side, is to be decent to them and look for that common ground. I personally refused to vote for Harris and a lot of that has to do with the way the party treated the Sander's supporters. I cared enough to not just donate to him but to volunteer and for the party to put that much effort into squashing us and then offering no reason to vote blue other than because Trump was worth, was insanity. The party got the shellacking that it deserved and apparently, people aren't learning any lessons from the way that the previous 3 elections went with Trump winning 2 and Biden barely squeaking by the time they went. In none of those cases did the Democrats get any sort of mandate or message that the people thought they were on the right track.

They stopped running on anything legitimate years ago, and even when Obama did run on legitimate things, he failed to really put much effort into delivering. Even his signature health care legislation came from the Heritage Foundation and was to the right of Nixon's proposal from the early '70s. In other words, we would have been better off if Obama hadn't done anything and they'd just pretended to fight against the GOP proposing it themselves when he left office.

This is exactly what this law was intended to prevent. These people flooded the capital with the intention of preventing the lawful counting of electoral votes. The court got this wrong and it's time that something be done about it. The justices that vote for this ought to be impeached and removed from office, although that's not going to happen with the GOP having enough votes to prevent that. The next best thing would be to expand and pack the court. But, really what this shows is just what a failure Obama was as a President that he didn't lean on RBG to resign and didn't make the GOP pay a price for not confirming his nominees.

Yes, I think what that says is that the vote blue no matter who coalition has done a very effective job of chasing out anybody with critical thinking skills. That's not to say that all Harris supporters are doing this, but the ones that are adult enough to really consider the positions of the candidates are probably not the ones ejecting people from their lives for disagreeing. Personally, I view this as good riddance for bad garbage. And, hopefully the non-Harris voters and the Trump voters that were mostly voting against Harris can create a coalition to compete with the GOP and Democrats in some sort of serious way.
