  1. The main benefit I can see to the solar panels is not getting stuck in the middle of nowhere for lack of fuel. Flat tires or some other major issue yes, but not a lack of electricity. And given how much simpler electric cars are in general, it would probably just about eliminate any being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention that unless you're broken down in a cell deadspot, you'd have the ability to charge a phone and call for help with relatively precise directions to your location.
