Yep, I think it might be time for me to just stop logging in here and start logging in at one of those competitor sights. Even though there's a fraction of the content, perhaps those of us who do object to this change should be either moving our content there or creating stuff to put up over there if we aren't already making stuff.

@the_kombinator This is one of the reasons why I'm running my own home streaming service for personal use and using owned DVDs as the source material. I own it in a way that corporations can't change. Sometimes they make major changes like making Han shoot in response, other time it's smaller things like adding back the more or less full hockey fight scene in For Your Eyes Only and removing most of the bedroom scene where the teen is throwing herself at a visibly uncomfortable Bond. It probably should have been that way from the start as it's abundantly clear about how the two feel about it, but the hockey scene is a bit of extra action that is helpful in understanding that scene.

@StreetPreacherr In a legal sense it is, nobody is holding a gun to their heads telling them they have to sign. But, from a practical sense, if you've got a substantial viewer base, it can be very hard to change platforms quickly enough to avoid having to sign the new terms.

@marcogenovesi8570 Yes, or at least that's their excuse. There were ads prior to the adpocalypse, but mysteriously the larger corporate channels are often allowed to violate the terms that everybody else has to follow and a bunch of more popular videos get buried by the algorithm to favor those rule breakers. It's clearly about more than just the content i question.

@jellybr3ak That's already a violation of the ToS going back to the first version of the ToS when YouTube was independent of Alphabet.
