Perhaps if Blacks would be more concerned with advancing themselves, they wouldn't be in that position. Whether or not they have a right to be upset by this isn't really relevant here. Loads of other groups have similar treatment, but don't even bother getting worked up over it. Countless gay characters are played by straight actors and the gay actors frequently aren't allowed to play gay characters. You've got all sorts of messed up portrayals of the Irish and Germans and I rarely, if ever, hear folks from those groups complaining about it. I can't recall the last time I heard any Japanese person complaining about Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's portrayal. The reason being, that these groups are more focused on things that matter. Not reinforcing stereotypes. At the end of the day, if it takes something like this to remove those officials from office, you're just going to get more of the same policies that disadvantage some groups at the benefit of others.

@tnasty123abc That was also nearly 90 years earlier when folks didn't know any better. It was also a film by people that weren't being offended by others doing the same thing. Granted, there wasn't really much of an opportunity for other groups to do it, but that doesn't change the fact that the filmmakers weren't using the outrage to try and advance themselves personally. At this point, few people would suggest that Birth of a Nation isn't at bare minimum deeply problematic and more realistically deeply racist.
