Climate Change will Kill us All !!! Banning menthol cigarettes is a courtesy to everybody that doesn't want to pay for or get cancer. Menthol makes it easier for people to start smoking by covering up the irritation that smoke causes on the airways. It's also more likely to be smoked by underaged smokers. Smoking is particularly obnoxious because unlike many other things you can do to your personal body, smoke tends to affect other people via 2nd and 3rd hand smoke. Not to mention the cost of providing expensive health care to smokers when it destroys their cardiovascular system.

You might not be buying it, but partial bans don't work to keep things out of the hands of those you don't want to have them. Removing the other flavors is about making them less attractive and harder to get started with. Counting on regulations to keep things out of the hands of folks that aren't supposed to have them, depends upon the retailers doing the right thing and them not having somebody else that's willing to be a straw buyer. In other words, tobacco in general is still going to be legal, but they're just making it as unappealing as possible to make it harder for people to start smoking. Really, the main ways of reducing smoking are, education, added cost and removed desirability.

Unlikely, if it's not legally available, people probably won't start smoking it. Some will switch to regular cigarettes and others will quit. The nicotine is the addictive component of cigarettes, it's not like pot where it was banned in all forms.

@joefineman648 Won't happen, they'd be sued back into the stoneage. I could possibly see somebody adding a drop of menthol flavor to cigarettes or dousing them, but you're not going to see commercial support like that as they'd get sued out of existence. Plus, there just isn't that level of demand. If that was going to be a thing, we would have seen that when they banned all the other flavors.
