@MotoCampNerd Probably a spring loaded valve.A spring of the right size would close the conenctor. Personally, I don't mess with things like that, I just use a liquid gas powered stove and don't bother with such things.

@SnowyAspenHills Yep, I've been using liquid gas for as long as I've been backpacking. My Dad had a Svea stove and I eventually picked up an MSR whisperlite. They both take the same sort of gas. I prefer the whisperlite mainly because the cool down time if I screw up the priming is significantly less. I've never personally been a fan of those sorts of one time use canisters.

The best answer though is cowboy coffee. Just put those grounds directly in the cup and don't worry about swallowing some of the grounds.

@MyLifeOutdoors Why not just use a stove that uses white gas? It's what I used back when I was in the boyscouts including a couple 50 milers. My MSR Whisperlite worked reliably and doesn't require such nonsense to avoid wasted fuel in the bottle.
