  1. Noncompetes shouldn't apply to people that are fired or laid off provided that the person didn't intentionally get fired as a way around the noncompete at a bare minimum. In most cases though the noncompete should be limited to while you're working for them and possibly a short period after. 2 years is an awful long time.
