  1. Really, they shouldn't be censoring much of anything. Especially when it comes to the pandemic, the "correct" information has changed a lot over time as more has been learned and correct information, like about masks and vaccines, would have been considered misinformation early on. Now, we know that masks are a part of the solution and that the vaccines are terrible at preventing infection. That's accepted fact these days, but weren't early on.

  2. The US has never lived up to any of that, those ideologies were always aspirational and likely always will be aspirational, the question is whether or not we're moving in the right direciton. Right now, we're clearly not, but if we all hold politicians and companies accountable that could change.
