Misogynistic is a bit of an overstatement, but I saw the movie and the boycott is pretty ridiculous. It's not as good of a movie as the original trilogy, but it's better than Young Indiana Jones and Crystal Skulls. It is kind of disgusting that the series won't end because there's no longer an appetite for the sorts of stories that are involved, it's just because a bunch of people are butt hurt over there being a female colead. Let's be honest, the critcisms that led to the boycotting were pretty superficial and if you see the film, it's pretty clear that in most cases they either were done for creative reasons or weren't that big of a deal. I generally hate PWB, but she's actually not too bad in this one. I can't see her replacing Indy, but she's far better than Kate Capshaw was in Temple of Doom. (Not sure if it's an acting thing or she just had a better part to act) I went in buying the flavor aid that it was going to be terrible, but it really isn't. It is not a perfect movie and I think that it would have benefitted greatly from Spielberg directing it, but it's not exactly a bad film either. Yes, they should have fixed the writing with the villains and with PWB as those are genuine issues, but honestly, they don't detract anywhere near as much as people are suggesting.

Or wait a few years until people have lost interest in this silliness and actually watched the movie. You've got a bunch of prominent YouTube reviewers getting views by overstating the problems with the movie and ignoring the intent of the movie. And, that's pretty common, some genres of movies use an inverted star system. You know that a Wayon's Brother's movie from the '90s was going to be bad if it got more than 2 stars. You do get the hardcore fans upset over some of these decisions, but I don't think that's a large enough portion of the audience to matter that much. I'm sure that if we go back to Crystal Skulls that there were people insisting the same thing. I do think that this is a tempest in a teapot. I get that it's not everybody's particular cup of tea, but there are some of us that genuinely enjoyed it, even if it wasn't as good as the original trilogy. I do think that it missed the mark by far less than what some folks think and it's clearly better than both Young Indiana Jones and Crystal Skulls. And I've seen people saying that it's worse than Crystal Skulls. Not true, at least they set up the ending for this one rather that completely switching the ending with no prior pipe laid for it.

It is, you've got a bunch of loudmouths that haven't seen the film avoiding the film because they were told that certain things were true about the movie. I'm glad I ignored those reviews as very little of what they said is actually true. And even the stuff that was true was largely pretty misleading. Yes, they did kill off Mutt, but the movie is already very long, taking a detour to kill him on screen so that the plot can happen would have pushed the movie to over 3 hours and done nothing to advance the plot to justify the diversion. The movie definitely does have flaws, a lot of them, but at the end of the day, it was a fun movie and that's really all these films were ever intended to be. They weren't meant to be ponderous think pieces, they were mostly fun movies to watch.
