@DBurns2007 This has happened a few times with Lucas connected franchises. Star Wars A New Hope was originally just Star Wars, it didn't get a name change until later.

@LeKain08 It's worth noting that slasher flicks were just the most recent morality plays at the time. Go back to the "children's stories" of the 19th century and they were frequently along the same lines. Even the tale of the woodsman from L. Frank Baum a part of the first Oz book was incredibly brutal even though Baum himself aimed to make stories that were less violent for children. Also, in most cases the characters being sexualzed and murdered were closer to 18 or 19 and usually camp counselors rather than younger teens like you're implying. And the actors themselves were usually a touch older for practical reasons as there's a bunch of restrictions on minors acting in movies that would be incredibly inconvenient for films of those genres.

@LeKain08 I don't see an issue with it. This is a current controversy where a French film was made which sexualized girls that were even younger. It certainly does seem to be reasonable to point that out.
