  1. He's being incredibly optimistic here. We're in this place because the Democrats are completely useless. In recent memory, they've had the ability to end the GOP in it's current form and they didn't have the guts to do it. What the GOP has been selling for the last couple decades isn't particularly popular, but the Democrats aren't offering anything at all. It took like a year to get this pathetic student loan reductione executive order. The Dems didn't even try to give essential workers hazard pay when they did have the votes to potentially do it. They keep losing because they refuse to take meaningful action on popular issues and force the GOP to be bad guys in opposing any of it.

  2. They won't do it though. We could give them 60 seats in the Senate and they wouldn't do it. There's just too many of them that are bought for this to actually be done. They've been letting the GOP gerrymander the hell out of the house seats to the point where the GOP has a permanent 2-3% advantage over them, and they've yet to do anything about it. They're just too addicted to the proposition of being able to run on how horrible the GOP is and not having to do anything at all about it. Even when they've had a veto-proof majority, like during the period where Obama passed the ACA, they somehow couldn't whip their own party hard enough to get a public option.

  3. Yes, but FDR actually did things to help the people. The current Democrats aren't interested in doing popular things if it means the GOP calls them names. They'r weak and deservet ob e crushed. It's just sad that the rest of us will pay the price for their cowardice and incompetence.

  4. He's not. The whole thesis assumes that the Democrats actually care about winning. Given that Pelosi and Schumer keep getting re-elected to their positions in leadership despite abysmal performance, I don't think you could give theme enough seats to actually do anything about any of this. It's a large part of why they don't already have a veto-proof majority when the GOP is doing things like trying to overturn an election that was a couple years ago and attempting to ban abortion.

  5. They're pretty much cockroaches, and the Democrats aren't exactly shoes. Even if the Democrats do get the necessary seats, there's no way that they'll actually do anything about this. This is the party that's let the GOP steal SCOTUS nominations without repercussions and allowed them to gerrymander the hell out of the house districts. Doing something about this is not in their DNA and I doubt that's going to change any time soon as they're clearly not interested in anything other than being slightly less terrible than the GOP.
