I am a Sanders supporter and I met many people that had never been involved in politics before, but they came out for him. The thing that bothers me about this is that Hillary drained the coffers of the state party in over 3 dozen states through her Victory fund and I can't help but think that the money would have made a difference in at least some of those races. But, we'll never know because she illegally drained the funds and wasted them on a doomed campaign against Trump.

I largely stopped watching TYT during the GE because of the loser Donald segments. But, the show is generally quite good.

It was her fault. I wrote in Bernie's name even though he asked that we support her because that was the candidate I wanted to support. I haven't forgotten about DOMA or DADT, both pieces of bigoted legislation were signed into law by her husband and it took her until 2013 to come around on the issue of GLBT rights. The probable lies squarely with the DNC and Hillary's campaign for this outcome. She did nothing to deserve my vote, nor did she even bother to court the voters in states like WI where she didn't appear a single time after the conventions. She went an unprecedented length of time without a single press conference and was largely absent from the campaign trail for long periods of time as she solicited bribes. This would never have happened if they had let Bernie have the nomination rather than fixing things in her favor.

CJS929 Not really, incrementalism hasn't been working for us up to this point, why on Earth should we think it's going to work in the future. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something else to happen is more or less insanity. The thing is that he had the votes to win, or would have had them if the DNC hadn't been purging the voter rolls, closing polling stations and influencing the vote with their unpledged delegates. The voters of the party wanted something far more progressive than what the party was willing to allow. They keep trying to protect the bluedogs, but every single bluedog Democrat that was holding up the ACA from something a lot better was voted out of office anyways. They diluted the party message without actually gaining anything at all. If you can't see that, then you're a damn fool. Bernie was and is the real deal, if the party had come along with him they probably would have picked up a few seats rather than losing them.

CJS929 There's the thing, I supported him as long as he was trying to take me someplace that I wanted to go. I stopped supporting him when he started to support HRC. It's why he was pressuring the DNC to change all sorts of things to try and keep us onboard. He know that we wouldn't follow him if he wasn't going someplace we wanted to go. And he was right about that, the DNC should have listened. He still wants to take us where I want to go and I support him on that, but I'm not going to support him while he's going through the motions and trying to make things less bad rather than good. james beihl Precisely. As you say, incrementalism hasn't been working for us. There's a number of issues where incrementalism isn't going to cut it and the party has sold us out. Unfortunately, the upshot here is that with Trump in office it's unlikely that anything serious is going to be done about climate change or most of our most pressing issues. The party hasn't been shrinking because it's too progressive and needs to be more conservative, it's been shrinking because of the condescension and the refusal to think big. There's a ton of votes in middle America for Democratic candidates if they're willing to actually go there and find out what the people want rather than telling them what they want. A significant portion of the Trump voters would have voted for Bernie if he had been on the ballot.

The problem with the Greens in the US is that they have a terrible name and just show up every 4 years to get on the Presidential balloting. If they want to be relevant, they need to start running for state and local offices where they can more easily interact directly with the voters even without much funding. The name isn't good because it is completely meaningless. I always assumed that they were an environment party, but they are apparently not focused on that at all, it's just one of many things they care about.

mrbadguysan I think that's probably just the impression that I got from her site.

We'll see, I didn't support Trump during the election anymore than I supported Clinton, but let's be honest about how the media has portrayed the candidates. You didn't hear much talk of Clinton's bigotry or the consequences of their bigoted policies on various people of color. Nor have we heard so much as an apology for DADT and DOMA. We won't really know how bad things are until Trump announces his cabinet picks, but whatever pain we suffer is going to be worth it for running off the most corrupt politician that the US has ever had. I mean seriously, she and her husband have received over $100m from various special interest groups on top of the campaign donations and donations to their foundation. No other candidate in the history of the US has received so much monetary support from special interests. Allowing her, even after she mishandled classified materials and lied about it to become President would have been extremely damaging to the Union. I hope that Trump follows through on his promise to have Clinton properly investigated for the things we already know she did. There's more than enough evidence to prosecute her for mishandling classified materials and it would send a strong signal that justice is applicable to all, not just the poor.
