@cekpi7 If you automate tasks, then you have a small number of options. One is to expect to be laid off, another is to spend the time looking to improve other areas of the business and sell the ideas to the boss. You may wind up promoted for it. Or, when you are laid off, you will have metrics about how much money you saved in doing so. But, really this is why there needs to be a UBI or at least profit sharing. It's also why the workweek should probably be shorter for the same money as most of those repetitive tasks exist just to justify having somebody at the office for 40 hours a week every week of the year. Much of it could legitimately be cut or offloaded onto a computer with no issues.

That's by design. Most companies don't want to promote internally because it can disrupt the entire business. If the CEO leaves, then they'd try to promote one of the VPs. When the VP gets promoted, they'd have to find somebody on the next rung that is ready enough for the promotion and if anybody along the hierarchy has quit recently, you're stuck hiring from outside anyways. I'm not personally a fan of promoting from the outside, but businesses that don't at least do some hiring from outside do end up losing a lot to the internal promotions.
