I dont agree with the french historian when he says that before WW I french army's non-european soldiers never fought in Europe, there were black soldiers and "mameluks" from Egypt in Napoleon's Great Army, and many algerian soldiers fought, during the second Empire, in Crimea'war, in Italy, and in France during the Franco-German war in 1870-1871.

No, @Juan Castro, you make a confusion between concentration camps and extermination camps, Dachau, the first concentration camp, for instance, was created in 1933, first for german political prisonners, and Auschwitz-Birkenau was built at the end of 1940 as a concentration camp before becoming an extermination camp in 1942.
